AI Community Program - Session Support
This initiative is a community-based learning and building program where youth, college students, and community members use AI tools to address real problems they encounter in their daily lives. You would work directly with participants during live sessions to help build, troubleshoot, and brainstorm. These sessions are designed for people who want to learn how to build with AI tools but may not know where to start.
- Structure: Sessions run on a fixed schedule in small groups.
- Self-Directed: Participants work on projects based on problems they choose, using commonly available AI tools or building custom infrastructure.
- No Grades: There is no standardized curriculum or required final deliverable. Progress is defined by the participant, not a technical rubric.
Your Impact: You support problem-solving rather than directing outcomes. You act as a process navigator for participants who are still figuring things out.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Friendly & Respectful: Comfortable working with youth and community members from diverse backgrounds. Needs to be empathetic towards community members.
- Adaptable: Comfortable learning new tools quickly and adjusting as the program evolves.
- Self-Directed: Willing to take initiative and be attentive to details during sessions.
- Dependable: Able to commit to scheduled sessions and communicate in advance if unavailable.
You should be comfortable with AI tools and workflows. This includes AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Copilot), conversational models, or low-code tools (Firebase Studio, Ripple, n8n). Deep technical expertise is not required.
Time Commitment
- Each session is 1 hour per week, multiple sessions available
To help you feel comfortable before sessions begin, we will host informal, hands-on onboarding gatherings. You can meet other volunteers, explore the tools participants will use, and see what support actually looks like. You will also be provided with all materials and protocols to become familiar with. Additionally an AI tool built from a previous pitch competition will be made available to answer all your questions 24/7.
